In a clash of giants vs minnows, there can only be one winner with Spain near certs to get back to winning ways on Wednesday.
Former European champions Spain have two friendly matches to help them shape up for the 2024 Euros. The first of those is a home game against Andorra in Badajoz this Wednesday. This will only be the second time these two nations meet in their history. The first was 20 years ago with Spain winning 4-0. The Spaniards do not come into this game on the back of very impressive results, having failed to win the last two. In their most recent game, they twice let go of the lead to draw 3-3 with Brazil. That marked a fourth straight game in which they failed to keep a clean sheet. However, in three of those four matches, they scored three times and come here on a good run in attack. They failed to score in just one of their last eight matches, which ended in a 1-0 loss to Colombia. In their last five matches on Spanish soil, they are unbeaten, winning four and scoring at least twice in each of them.
Like Spain, Andorra also went for non-European opposition in their March friendly matches, and also won one and drew the other. Their most recent was against Bolivia, which they lost 1-0. That result marked a 15th straight outing in which they failed to win. Before their loss to Bolivia they had played to a 1-1 draw with South Africa. Ricard Fernandez’s goal against South Africa stands as their only strike in the last eight matches. Andorra have been poor in attack and rarely keeping clean sheets. In their last 15 matches, they managed just one clean sheet, while avoiding defeat in just four. Coming here with five straight losses away from home will not work for Andorra either. They conceded two or more in three of the five away losses and failed to score in any of their last four away games.
