Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City will meet in a postponed Premier League matchday 34 showdown on Tuesday. Will Spurs be the team to stop Manchester City?
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou watched his team end a run of four successive defeats at the weekend when they came from a goal down to beat Burnley 2-1. The goals came from two defenders with Pedro Porro scoring the first and Mickey van de Ven the second late in the second half. Spurs have won 13 of their 18 home games this season, losing five and they have won four of the last five they have played at home. 16 of their 18 games at home this season have seen both teams score, with only Fulham and Manchester United failing to score in an away game against Spurs. They have not lost a home game to Manchester City in the Premier League since 2018 (but have lost two cup games at home to City since then).
Manchester City’s race for the title continues here in a game that could swing the title definitively one way or the other depending on the result. Pep Guardiola’s team have not been beaten, other than on penalties, since early December. They stand just three wins away from a second successive Premier League and FA Cup double. However, they don’t have the best recent record against Spurs, especially away from home in the Premier League. One positive for City is that Rodri is fit. The Spaniard has not been on the losing team for City in the Premier League since March 2023. City were in the capital at the weekend when they put Fulham to the sword securing a hugely impressive 4-0 win at Craven Cottage. A result which heaped all the pressure onto Arsenal in their Sunday afternoon clash against Manchester United.
Prediction: Tottenham 1-3 Man City
