Liverpool head to Aston Villa on Monday night for their penultimate game of the season, in Jurgen Klopp's last-ever away match in charge.

Unai Emery’s Aston Villa team came into this game on the back of a loss in the Europa Conference League semi-finals, where they went out to Greek side Olympiacos. Last weekend, they were beaten 1-0 by Brighton in the league too. Therefore, they head into this game with great home form overall in the EPL, but having lost all their last three matches in all competitions. With two games left to play, Villa are seven points clear of Spurs, who do have a game in hand, but a win here for the home side would ensure they land the fourth Champions League qualification spot in the Premier League. They haven’t beaten Liverpool in any of their last seven games against Jurgen Klopp’s team, but their last win was the memorable 7-2 victory at Villa Park back in October 2020.

The Reds recent away form isn’t great. One win in four on the road has been the reason why they have fallen off the pace being set by the top two. They did get back to winning ways last time out, defeating Tottenham 4-2 at Anfield in a somewhat strange game where Liverpool were cruising at 4-0 with around 10 minutes left to play before two quickfire Spurs goals saw the Reds almost collapse. Since losing 7-2 at Villa Park, Liverpool have won six of the last seven between the two teams, including a 3-0 success at Anfield earlier on in the season.
