Man Utd welcome Everton to Old Trafford looking to return to winning ways after to chastising defeats in the Premier League.

Manchester United head into the game with Everton having seen a seven game unbeaten run in all competitions ended with two consecutive defeats in the league, sandwiched between an FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest. The home loss to Fulham (1-2) was followed by a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City last weekend, although they did beat Forest 1-0 in the FA Cup 5th Round to earn the right to host Liverpool in the quarter finals next weekend. Erik Ten Hag's team do have a good recent record against Everton and despite those two league defeats, they remain sixth in the table on 44 points from 27 games. 

Everton's recent form would have been much worse without the reduction of their 10-point deduction to 6 on appeal. This adjustment moves them up from 21 points to 25, placing them five points clear of the relegation zone in 16th position. Under Sean Dyche, they've only suffered defeats to Manchester City (twice), Tottenham, and West Ham in their last nine matches, with the remaining games ending in draws. Defensively solid, they've conceded 37 goals, matching fourth-placed Aston Villa, but their struggle lies in scoring, having netted only 29 goals, the third fewest in the Premier League.

Both Manchester United and Everton are in need of points for different reasons as the season progresses. While both teams will approach the game with optimism, Manchester United holds the edge as favorites. With a potentially boosted lineup including the return of Hojlund, United will be expected to take the offensive against Everton at Old Trafford. We predict that they will manage to break through Everton's vulnerable defense and secure a narrow victory.
