Fifth-placed Villarreal will travel to El Sadar Stadium for a fascinating La Liga encounter against fourth-placed Osasuna.

Osasuna have secured six wins, three draws, and four losses from their 13 La Liga matches this season, amassing 21 points to sit fifth in the table, just three points behind fourth-placed Villarreal.  

Before the international break, Los Rojillos enjoyed a three-match winning streak against Real Sociedad, Osasuna (Copa del Rey), and Chiclana but were brought back to earth with a heavy 4-0 defeat by Real Madrid. Vicente Moreno’s men will aim to bounce back this weekend, relying on their impressive home form, which has yielded 16 points from seven matches, the second-best record in the league.  

After finishing 11th last season, Osasuna appear poised for a stronger campaign, resembling their seventh-place finish in 2022-23. However, they are winless in their last four La Liga clashes with Villarreal, including three losses, though the corresponding fixture last season ended in a 1-1 draw.

Villarreal, on the other hand, arrive in fine form, having won three consecutive matches against Real Valladolid, Poblense, and Alaves. Unbeaten since a 2-0 loss to Real Madrid in early October, Marcelino's side has collected 24 points from 12 matches, just three shy of second-placed Real Madrid.  

The Yellow Submarine are also in the mix for a top-four spot, sitting only two points behind Atletico Madrid, who have played an extra game. With 23 goals scored this season—the third-best in La Liga behind Barcelona and Real Madrid—they have been prolific but will need defensive improvement, having conceded 19 times.
