OFFICIAL: Guardiola extends contract with Manchester City
Pep Guardiola, who has cemented his status as a Premier League legend during his tenure at Manchester City, will continue his journey in England.
Details: Manchester City’s official website announced that Guardiola has signed a contract extension until the summer of 2027.
His previous contract was set to expire at the end of the current season.
Notably, the new contract does not include a clause for mutual termination, even in the event that Manchester City is found guilty of breaching 115 Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules and is relegated to the Championship.
This extension means Guardiola will have been with Manchester City for at least 10 years. He became the club’s head coach in the summer of 2016. Since then, the “Citizens” have won six Premier League titles and, in the 2022/23 season, lifted their first-ever Champions League trophy.
Reminder: Reports earlier suggested that Brazilian football legend Ronaldo is interested in becoming the president of the Brazilian Football Federation and had expressed a desire to hire Guardiola as the head coach of the "Seleção."
