We’re 20 games into the Bundesliga season, and Borussia Dortmund are holding onto a spot in the top four. Edin Terzic’s side currently sit fourth but they are just one point clear of fifth-placed RB Leipzig. Although Dortmund have lost just three games this season, they have been let down in the title race by too many draws, with seven in total. Winning 10 of their 20 games, it’s the fewest amount of victories for Dortmund at this point of the season since 2020/21. They go into this game unbeaten in six in the Bundesliga, with three wins and three draws.

Freiburg,  have fallen away in the race for the top four now and are now three points outside the Europa Conference League qualifying spot. They go into this game with just one win from their past four, losing three, including each of their last two. The first defeat came to Werder Bremen, who sit below them in the table, but losing to Stuttgart last time out might have been a bit more expected.

In what should be a competitive encounter, Dortmund may be made to work for their three points on home soil, especially in the midst of an injury and illness crisis.Freiburg have not yet reached the levels they had shown in 2023 though, and are currently stuck in a poor run of form which is likely to continue here.
