Every year, PSG sets its sights on the long-awaited Champions League victory, but they have yet to come close to achieving their goal. In the new season, PSG is adjusting to life without Kylian Mbappé, who left for Real Madrid as a free agent and is currently in a legal dispute with the club over a €55 million debt. Despite this, PSG has made a strong start in Ligue 1, winning all four matches with a combined score of 16:3 – beating Lille and Brest 3:1, Le Havre 4:1, and Montpellier 6:0.Girona was last season's biggest surprise in the top European leagues. The modest Catalan club won the hearts of fans from the very first matches and even led La Liga for a considerable period during the first half of the season. Many compared Girona to the legendary Leicester City team from the 2015/16 season. However, over the long haul, Míchel’s side could not keep up with Real Madrid, and Barcelona narrowly overtook them at the finish line. Still, a third-place finish was an incredible achievement for Girona.

This summer, Girona lost five key players, with new signings brought in to fill the gaps. Unsurprisingly, the start of the season has been difficult for the red-and-whites. They suffered heavy defeats to Atlético Madrid (0:3) and Barcelona (1:4) but managed to beat Osasuna (4:0) and Sevilla (2:0) while also drawing with Real Betis (1:1).
