Toulouse will welcome Marseille to the Municipal Stadium for a matchup between two unbeaten teams in Ligue 1.

As Toulouse prepare for the weekend, they come off a pair of underwhelming draws, starting with a 0-0 stalemate at home against Nantes on opening day, followed by a 1-1 draw away at Nice, where they managed to equalize in the last 30 minutes. While Toulouse remains unbeaten, a failure to secure three points against Marseille would mark the first time in over a decade they’ve failed to win any of their opening three league games.

Despite recent key departures, including Logan Costa and Thijs Dallinga, Toulouse’s start has been reasonably solid. However, Marseille has been a difficult opponent for Toulouse, with the latter having failed to win any of their last 20 encounters with the visitors. Marseille has also enjoyed an unbeaten run in their last eight league visits to Toulouse, scoring 21 goals in that stretch.

Marseille, under new management, will look to continue this strong run, especially after being held to a draw by Reims last weekend. New signing Mason Greenwood scored to secure a point for Marseille, following their impressive 5-1 victory over Brest. 

Marseille has posted a combined xG of 5.3 in their first two games but has also been prone to conceding chances, mirroring the style seen during De Zerbi’s tenure at Brighton & Hove Albion. De Zerbi’s Brighton was known for its ability to both score and concede goals consistently, a trait that seems to be continuing at Marseille.
