Making their Serie A return for the 2024-25 season, Parma will host Fiorentina at Stadio Tardini .

Parma have clinched the Serie B title by finishing just three points ahead of Como, marking their return to Serie A for the first time since the 2020-21 season. This is the Emilian club's third attempt at making it back to the top flight.

Their return to competitive play this season saw them face Palermo in the Coppa Italia, but they were knocked out early after a 1-0 defeat. Parma now focus on their league campaign, starting with a fixture against Fiorentina, a team they have historically performed well against at home.

Fiorentina's most recent match at Stadio Tardini ended in a thrilling 3-3 draw in March 2021. However, the Viola have seen significant changes since then, coming close to European success in the past two seasons. They narrowly lost both the Europa Conference League finals and the 2023 Coppa Italia under former manager Vincenzo Italiano.

With Italiano's departure, Raffaele Palladino, formerly of Monza, now leads Fiorentina into the new season. Palladino's task is to steer the club beyond the disappointment of a recent loss to Olympiacos and an eighth-place Serie A finish. Fiorentina’s pre-season included a challenging tour of England and a series of friendly victories, including a 7-0 win over Grosseto.
