After a strong showing in pre-season, AC Milan will kick off their competitive campaign, hosting Torino at San Siro.

Despite leading AC Milan to the Scudetto two years ago and nearly reaching a Champions League final, Stefano Pioli's tenure ended after an inconsistent 2023-24 season. The Rossoneri closed the campaign with just one win in nine matches, leading to a strong call for change.

Now under Paulo Fonseca, formerly of Roma, and with Zlatan Ibrahimovic influencing decisions from the boardroom, Milan is determined to close the gap to Inter Milan, whom they trailed by 19 points last season. Milan has won their last four Serie A openers and remains unbeaten in 28 league games against Torino at home. Torino's last away win over Milan was in March 1985, although they did win 3-1 in May.

With former boss Ivan Juric leaving on bitter terms, new coach Paolo Vanoli, who led Venezia to Serie B promotion and won his first competitive match in charge of Torino, faces the challenge of maintaining Torino's top-10 position and hopes to pull off an upset at San Siro.
