UK Media: Manchester United Still interested in Barcelona's De Jong, Willing to Complete the Deal at £40 Million!
Since Erik ten Hag took over Manchester
United, he has consistently viewed Frenkie de Jong as the solution to the
club's midfield issues. During the summer transfer window of 2022, Manchester
United vigorously pursued De Jong, making him a key target for the
summer, yet ultimately failed to secure his signature and was compelled to sign
veteran Casemiro from Real Madrid instead.
Heading into this summer's transfer
window, Manchester United and their new management hierarchy had earmarked
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Ugarte as a potential successor to Casemiro, who
had previously been linked with a move to a Saudi Arabian club. However, at
present, the Brazilian's likelihood of staying with the team is growing.
Additionally, the deal for Ugarte has stalled due to Paris Saint-Germain's
dissatisfaction with Manchester United's offer for the midfielder.
ManchesterWorld has learned that
Manchester United has begun to tentatively inquire about De Jong's situation,
as Ten Hag is eager to bring his former protégé back under his wing. The deal
could potentially be completed at a price ranging from approximately £30
million to £40 million. However, apart from Ugarte, Manchester United's
midfield transfer targets also include Sander Berge, Richard Rios Montoya, and
Youssouf Fofana. Furthermore, the club hopes to sell Casemiro and Scott
McTominay to raise funds for new signings.
