Tigres and Pachuca two prominent Liga MX teams, will clash in the first-ever all-Mexican showdown during the Leagues Cup round of 32 at Q2 Stadium in Austin.

Tigres had to dig deep in both games but managed to secure victories in their two group stage fixtures, continuing their trend from the previous tournament.

Since their inception in the Leagues Cup, the 2023 Liga MX Clausura champions have never been eliminated at this stage, notably overcoming Vancouver Whitecaps in a penalty shootout last year.

Despite losing two out of three Leagues Cup matches played in Texas, Tigres managed their lone victory in the Lone Star State against Club America in Houston back in 2019.

Pachuca's journey to the knockout stage of this tournament for the second consecutive season was cemented by a penalty shootout victory over the New York Red Bulls in their opening match.

After a bye into the Leagues Cup knockout phase last year, that win marked their first-ever triumph in this competition.

Following their CONCACAF Champions Cup victory in early June, Guillermo Almada's side has endured a challenging stretch, securing just one win in their last six matches in regulation time across all competitions.
